SmartThings
"Alexa, Good Morning"
Imagine waking up to the gentle hum of your shades rising automatically as your morning coffee begins to brew. By linking Hippo Shades to your voice assistant, you can control individual windows or entire rooms with simple voice commands.
Total Control, Anywhere
Forgot to close the shades before leaving for vacation? No problem. Use your smartphone to check the status of your windows and adjust them from anywhere in the world. Our shades support precision percentage control—set them to 25%, 50%, or 75% with a simple swipe.
How it Works: The Protocols
We use industry-standard protocols to ensure your shades remain responsive and secure. Here is a breakdown of the tech inside our motors.
Matter & Thread
The future of smart homes. Matter allows different brands to talk to each other locally and securely without needing a million different hubs. Hippo is proud to support the latest Matter-over-Thread standards.
Zigbee 3.0
Known for its extreme reliability and low power consumption. Zigbee creates a "mesh network" in your home, meaning the more devices you add, the stronger and more stable the connection becomes.
Bluetooth Setup
For those who want a simple, direct connection. Perfect for controlling shades in a single room directly from your phone without the need for a central smart home bridge.
Integration FAQ
If you choose Matter or Zigbee motors, you will need a compatible hub (like an Apple HomePod, Echo Show, or a dedicated Zigbee gateway) to enable remote and voice control.
Don't worry. Your shades will still respond to their physical remote controls. If you use a Thread or Zigbee network, your local automations will often continue to work even without internet.
